Architecture for Kids

April 17, 2015

When we first arrived in Venice we had a weekly ritual of the Friday Farmer’s Market (where else can you score honey from rescued bees?!)  followed by a scoot through the Venice Canals and I totally fell in love with the area. Having a respite like that in the middle of urban L.A. feels really special and makes for a perfect in-the-city getaway. Plus it was an amazing opportunity for us to talk about design in a very casual way (think Craftsman vs. Spanish in terms of descriptors). In a city known for it’s mid-century modern architecture it feels quite fitting to be teaching him a thing or two while he burns off some serious steam on his Racer.

Here are some great reads to inspire your budding architects and designers:

Iggy Peck Architect, Andrea Beatty

Rosie Revere Engineer, Andrea Beatty

Young Frank Architect, Frank Viva

Who Built That Modern House, Didier Cornille

A Lion In Paris, Beatrice Alemagna

Frank Lloyd Wright for Kids, Kathleen Thorne-Thomsen
